melanie porter

melanie jordan lanthone was the first child born june 17th, 1986, to a b-horror film director and famous author. she has two younger brothers. life for melanie was easy going, her family was normal in her eyes as she was raised in huntington beach. that was until her father was diagnosed with cancer and passed away when she was thirteen. it was a rough time for the freshly teenager as her family tried to cope in their own ways over her father's death. after her father passed away, melanie knew that she wanted to grow up and be able to help people. whether that be a nurse, a doctor, a care taker, hospice care, whatever. melanie wanted to help people. in order to get ahead of high school, it was her junior year that she started to take college courses, she would spend the first half at high school, the second half of the day at a local community college. melanie was just getting her pre-req's out of the way.

knowing that melanie wanted to stick around huntington beach and her family, she applied to colleges around los angeles areas for nursing and got into multiple. but her first choice was ucla and by golly, she was not going to turn them down. so melanie went there, for nursing. it was at ucla that melanie really found herself. not only with her passion to help people, but who she was. someone who likes to have a good time, be funny, laugh, and do what she loves doing. melanie lives life day to day with no regrets, that is for sure. it was during nursing school that she met him. he was tall, dark, and handsome. he was funny, caring, and he liked her. sure, melanie dated here and there during high school but she never really had a serious relationship. not until she met him. the pair flew into a quick romance and soon before her graduation, he received an offer in seattle for his residency that he couldn't pass up and he left for there. they did the whole long distance thing for a few months before melanie graduated, packed her things, and moved up to seattle in early 2010.

the first six-seven months was the hardest up there. melanie was searching for a job, trying to make new friends, and make a new life happen. but she wasn't completely happy. she loved her boyfriend and thought he was the one for her. that they were soulmates. landing a job at UW medical center and getting her feet in the right direction in seattle, melanie was finally starting to find herself again. sure, the weather sucked. she missed the sunshine, the beaches, the people, and most of, her family. but she was making it work there because if her boyfriend was happy and happy there, then she would be too. four years in seattle, melanie was wanting to start a family with him. she was ready to settle down, get married, start a family with her boyfriend. but he was not ready. it was after fourth of july that he told her that he had fallen out of love. this had blindsided melanie, but really it shouldn't have been a surprised. not with his crazy 80 hours a week and her crazy schedule, the pair never had time for each other. melanie was crushed. she was heartbroken. she stayed with a coworker for a few weeks as she put in her notice at uw medical center, packing up her things, and made the decision to move back down to california.

melanie isn't one who likes to hear the "i told you so's" and she was afraid that would happen when she moved back home. but her mother embraced her as she invited melanie to stay at her house along with her stepfather until melanie got back on her feet. that last about two weeks before melanie could stand their "rules" as an adult and wanted to have a normal life again. job searching started again and it wasn't too soon that melanie found herself back at hoag hospital, in newport beach. she knew it was a good hospital and even if maybe she had shitty hours, it was a job. it was then she found out about a room opening in a condo near her work that melanie swept in and met the two girls who didn't mind her at all moving in. it was february of 2015 when she met andy, another oncology nurse who was handsome, funny, and great in the sack. the two started a quick romance, mostly based on sex. and it was a few weeks into their relationship when huck porter made his way back into melanie's life. it threw her for a loop, mostly because she never imagined of ever running into huck again. ever. but, she continued to date andy, and in the process melanie tore her achilles, moved in with andy, her mom was diangosed with breast cancer, and was engaged for a quick hot minute. it was after she was engaged for huck to tell her the truth- how he felt about her and how he was wrong to break up with her the previous year.

torn with the decision of either staying with andy and knowing she wouldn't ever be as happy she would be with huck, or breaking his heart and going back to huck. and well, she picked huck. melanie had always known huck was her true love, the only guy she would ever really love. it stirred a lot of drama, lost a friend, and well, had mel go into hiding with huck but she didn't regret it. not one bit. about two months later, the pair were married and soon, melanie made some new friends. one of them being carrie lynch. and her life was slowly turning around for the better. she was the happiest she could be. her mother was winning her battle of breast cancer, she was married to the love of her life, she had the bestest of best friends, and well, they were trying to get pregnant. what more could she ask for?
